Pogłodów: eighteen people burned alive
13 June 1943 · Burning people alive and killings during pacifications
Pogłodów is among the places for which a short historical entry contains the basic finding and an official register makes it possible to locate a trace of the victims in space. This article retains the scale of available data. It does not reconstruct conversations, the conduct of families or a sequence of actions that the materials read do not describe. [1] [2]

The finding on method
The IPN calendar states that two men, six women and ten children were burned alive. [1]
Place of memory
The official card for the “Mniów – Pogłodów” site records a monument dedicated to the victims. It quotes the date of the crime and the number of residents on its inscription. Its identification field lists seventeen recognised people. This is not a complete exhumation protocol, so we do not derive details of injuries from that field. [2]
Pogłodów has its own date
In local history, this name occurs alongside Raszówka and Serbinów. The separate date on the monument protects against merging all repression in the commune into one event. The memory of this crime requires retaining the name of the settlement, even where the present address of the memorial is already in Mniów. [2]
Limits of the findings
The search did not cover complete investigative files or a nominal list of all victims. The detailed method is based on one calendar. [1] [2]

How we assess sources
The evidence base consists primarily of Polish scholarly publications, investigative findings, archives, museums and documented witness accounts. Reliability is assessed through the document’s provenance, scholarly method and the ability to check the finding. Statements by perpetrators and family accounts of perpetrators require especially critical comparison with other material. Two pages from the same institution may repeat one finding; they are not automatically treated as independent confirmation.
